Quality Lessons start with Quality Teachers Darren ~ Founder Hannah Bojana Dora Isabelle Lara Firdaous John Lucas Rick Lucia Jens Darren ~ FounderI was born and raised in Australia and I moved to the Netherlands in 2009. I have been teaching since 1999. I founded ABC English because I quickly realised that there was not a language school that could provide quality lessons from qualified and experienced young energetic teachers. I am a teacher who has devoted my life to helping English learners fulfill their greatest potential by teaching them how to become more successful personally & professionally. Pushing students to their limit is essential because I understand the potential that we have as humans to acquire language faster than we think is possible. Our team really does care more! Can’t wait to see you in class. Email:firstname.lastname@example.org HannahHi, I am originally from a city near Chicago in the United States, but I have been living and teaching in the Netherlands for almost three years. Before arriving, I taught English as a foreign language in Germany, Brazil, Argentina, and France. My partner is Brazilian and he tells me that my Portuguese is not bad too 😉 In my free time, I love anything to do with dogs, sports, and foreign languages. You might see my practicing Spanish or Dutch at language exchanges in The Hague (outside of Corona time of course) or running, swimming, or biking around The Netherlands. Because I love traveling and meeting new people, my favorite part about teaching English is getting to know students from different cultures and backgrounds. BojanaMy English teaching journey dates back to my high school days when I founded and ran a leadership club through English. Seeing the language progress of my club members made me pursue a BA in English Linguistics and Literature, followed by a master’s in Teaching English in Edinburgh, Scotland. To ensure that I can prepare engaging, creative and motivating classes, I also took an English teaching course – CELTA provided by Cambridge. This magical educational and professional journey led me to the Netherlands and ABC English where I am teaching a range of English courses. When I am not providing feedback or checking homework, I enjoy learning other languages, exploring the Hague’s beautiful beaches, forests, and parks or relaxing with a nice book or documentary. Dora Hello there! I’ve been teaching English for more than fifteen years, for two years at ABC. What a journey! In three words, I love it 😀 Seeing my students become confident speakers is priceless. Their sucess fills me with pride and makes me a better person. Personalisation of the target language, lots and lots of pair work, close monitoring, clear explanations of grammar points and humour are key ingredients of my classes. I always make sure that my students feel safe and important in my classes, that’s the first step to make them feel relaxed and then easily engaged. When I’m not at ABC, I’m busy with experimenting with materials textures and shapes as I’m studying furniture design at the art academy of the Hague. All in all, I really appreciate spice, enthusiasm, effort and positive vibe both in my classes and life. Hope to see you soon in my class 😀 IsabelleI’ve actively taught English as a foreign language since 2013, and for the last 2 years mainly at ABC. I get my inspiration for creating lessons from long beach walks and bike tours through the dunes. I LOVE the sea. I lived in Singapore for 10 years and that’s where I developed an interest in teaching. Travelling around in Asia really showed me the importance of knowing and understanding the English language. Working as a translator after getting my MA Degree in Translation I missed the interaction with people. So I decided to get my Celta qualification at the British Council and never looked back. I’m interested in working with people from all over the world, how they relate to each other and how they use language to communicate professionally and socially. I’ve found a true passion in teaching and hope to continue this job for many more years to come. LaraMy name is Lara and I am half Australian (G’day mate!) and half Italian (if you are lucky enough you might get to taste my tiramisú!). My passion for teaching originates from the satisfaction I get by helping people learn a new language so that they can communicate better and have more opportunities in their lives, opening up new paths. I have got a Masters in Applied Linguistics and I am CELTA-certified. Before moving to the Netherlands, I taught English as a second language in Italy and the UK. Being very exuberant and enthusiastic, I believe I can deliver a dynamic, fun, and enlightening lesson. So, my students will be as motivated as possible to improve their English. FirdaousHi there, I am Firdaous. I am a celta-certified English teacher from Morocco (I don’t come to work on a camel. But, I’d love to). I’m an aspiring author and I have already written three novels to date and I am currently working on my fourth one. I’ve had a passion for the English language ever since I was a child and I think my teaching clearly reflects that. I love having lively classes where students can both learn and have a good time. I can’t wait to meet you in class and help you on your way with your English. JohnHi! My name’s Oussama but most people call me John. I was given that alias when I started teaching in China. I love the English language and its grammar in particular. I can be a grammatical pedant at times but with the wisdom of hindsight I know that you’ll only reap the benefits of that. I speak British English by the way. Cheerio! 😉 Lucas RickMy background is in public administration, and I’ve always been interested in the English language. At ABC, my goal is to enable as many students as possible to improve their English fluency. LuciaI am a very enthusiastic, experienced and able English teacher from Uraguay. I have taught English in 3 different continents to a wide variety of learners over the last seven years. I love teaching English grammar, but most importantly- my students have advanced their English studies in a fun and productive learning environment. JensI was born in England, but my mum is from Holland and my dad is from Norway. I’ve been teaching English for almost 6 years and have previously taught in Japan and the UK. I am passionate about opportunities to learn, teach and research languages. I have extensive experience providing language teaching and editing services to universities, businesses and private students, as well as data analysis and research skills gained from working on a range of linguistics and communication projects. I currently also work as a lecturer of academic English in the ALP. I studied English Language and Linguistics at the University of the West of England, and completed a master’s degree in Language and Communication at the University of Leiden.
